Dough ornaments, part 1
Posted by Sunil under Domestic Life
This weekend my wife and I made some dough ornaments. It turned out being a very fun and relaxing activity for a winter day.
Here’re some links on how to make the dough
And here are some picture pre-painting:
All of them

my beard (trimmed):

a bird that broke into our basement window well:

a bunny that frequents our yard and a moth found flying out of a bag of basmati rice we bought (sadly):

a cat (or is it a squirrel) that frequents our deck:

an elephant that once stole my bike:

a robot that will feed you tomatoes and radio wires:

a squirrel (or cat?) that enjoys a good chiraz:

a modern take on an ornament i made in 1983 (that my parents still have):

That freaking elephant stole my bike too! Now I will use your likeness of him for the police report. Elephants are such jerks.

Have you read “The God of Small Things”? This reminds me of something in that book, I don’t know what. I bet they will look really cool when they’re all painted!

All very adorable. But, I must add that your modern rendition of that (amazingly awesome) green ornament you made years ago is my favorite. How did you nail the recreation so well without even using the original as a cheat-sheet? True talent.
